Every college is different on the level of participation expected from coaches. We are at a new school and there is actually a graduation ceremony twice a year. So far we've flown under the radar and only attended as spectators at the request of a player. Here's hoping to avoid campus completely this weekend!
Here is my perspective on graduation: I have always enjoyed taking a few minutes after a graduation ceremony to say good bye, good luck, we are so proud of you and if you need anything don't hesitate to ask. I think it has helped our kiddos get some closure as they say goodbye and understand those in the robes likely won't be seen in the fall. This is one of those times when it's all about the player and his family, and I don't see anything wrong with adding to the celebration! That being said, when you don't know anyone graduating, avoiding it is awesome!
