Book Review: Men of Sunday

Living a life around football (although not NFL) is a very unique life.  My husband and I were both intrigued to hear what those at the top level of this lifestyle had to say about living out a Christian faith.

I found this book to give a good insight into the lives of NFL families. Eichelsberger does a great job of speaking to the players and also those around the players, wives, coaches, give a well rounded window into both the blessing and curse of being an NFL player.

The chapters were well divided with players giving life examples of how they have seen God move in their own lives.  I appreciated everyone's willingness to speak candidly about the challenges of life both while playing and also after a player's career is over.

Yes, it is a blessing to be able to play in the NFL, the highest level of a sport that these men love, and yet, there are also great sacrifices and life lessons that come along the way.

If you have every wondered about the balance of a Christian walk in professional sports, this is a great read.  If you love the behind the scenes stories of the NFL, then you will enjoy this book.

Personally, I felt that some points were driven home with example after example and could have been paired down, while other stories were glossed over leaving questions.  I give it a 3 1/2 out of 5.
