Homemade Pasta sauce

This recipe was SOOOOO easy and tasted much better then any jarred sauce I have ever used. I think it is a great base recipe for anyone wanting to have a quick sauce on hand.

2 teaspoons olive oil
1/2 small onion, chopped
2 green onions, chopped
2 teaspoons crushed garlic
1 (28 ounce) can peeled and diced tomatoes
4 teaspoons dried basil
4 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon white sugar
In a large sauc
epan heat oil over medium heat. Saute onion, green onion and garlic. When onions are clear, stir in tomatoes, basil, oregano and sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes.

I used a fork and simply mashed up the tomatoes. This made for a chunkier sauce. Since I was using it in a recipe that was fine. If I was going to use this sauce for say spaghetti I would simply use my emersion blender to make a smoother sauce. As you can see, when mixed with chicken and broccoli it didn't look very "saucy".
