Homemade for the Holidays: Playdough


Recently my friend Candace sent me
this link from her blog highlighting her playdough adventures.

I have also made playdough a few times, and after experimenting think this is my preferred recipe: (original post here)

1 c flour
1/2 c salt
2T cream of tartar
1 T oil
1 C water
food coloring

Put dry ingredients into sauce pan. Add food coloring to water and water to oil. Add water mixture to dry ingredients. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly.


If you prefer a more natural option, this recipe here colors and flavors your dough with juice.

Overall, this is a great gift because homemade playdough actually lasts longer then some store brands. It is completely safe if ingested and can be made into a variety of colors to personalize the gift receiver.
