Book Review: Outlive Your LIfe
I read this book on the tail end of reading The Hole in Our Gospel and Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World. Although along the same subject matter and theme, Lucado puts his own twist on the matter at hand and for me, makes a very hard situation something to reflect on. Lucado draws examples of Biblical figures out and applies them to daily current day issues. His challenge, leave a legacy. "But for the Christian, none is higher than this: when we love those in need, we are loving Jesus. It is a mystery beyond science, a truth beyond statistics. But it is a message that Jesus made crystal clear: when we love them, we love him." Lucado discusses hardships on a large scale and small scale. Reflecting on ways that Jesus served others and how Jesus focused just as much on touching an individual as he did the crowds, perhaps even more so. Lucado also mentions specific present day examples of how people around the world are serving "even the least of these" in ways that show us even a child can serve God. What I appreciated about this book was how encouraging Lucado is. I think it is human nature to desire to be remembered here on earth. Lucado gives tangible examples of how to make that possible. One example of how each individual can make a difference...pray. Pray now, pray first, and pray often.
